These transits and retrogrades set up alternate energy fields that react with the energy in your personal birth chart. Your birth chart is simply a 'snapshot' of where each planet was at the time of your birth. Today when planets move, then it creates conversations with where they are on your birthday. Those talks can be loving, strained, confusing, or intimate in your partnerships.

Not all planets are at the same level of engagement with your relationships. Your love story is set on a few planets. Let's meet them. 

Venus: The Planet of Love and Connection

When it comes to relationships, Venus is the most important planet. It rules the way that you give and receive love, what you find attractive, and what kind of partner you seek. You will experience a sweeter, more affectionate, and easy relationship whenever Venus passes through a warm and compatible sign such as Taurus or Libra (signs it rules).

However, when Venus is retrograde (approximately every 18 months), relationships tend to become a time of questioning. Certain flames that have been extinguished might resurface. Pre-established relationships are revisited. You begin to question whether it's the type of relationship you want. It is not an energy of breakup; rather, it is an energy of slowing down and telling yourself the truth. Think of it like a relationship audit happening whether you asked for one or not.

Jupiter: The Great Blessing

It's like that old uncle who appears and makes everything better; Jupiter is that kind of uncle. It is the place where growth, wisdom, and good fortune exist. Jupiter is also known as Brihaspati or Guru in Vedic astrology and is one of the most powerful planets of marriage and long-term relationships. The ninth planet, Jupiter, transiting the seventh house in a horoscope chart can give wonderful relationship opportunities. Existing partnerships deepen and enhance each other.

Jupiter transits last for approximately 13 months and so have a significant impact. In 2025-2026, Jupiter is transiting from Gemini and entering Cancer (where it's exalted, or strongest). This is one of the best times of the year for a lot of zodiac signs to commit in love. 

Saturn: The Teacher Nobody Asked For

Saturn is serious. This is the world of karma, discipline, and long-term lessons. It dominates commitment, limits, and accountability in relationships. Saturn's benefic aspect to a relationship means that it is really robust and enduring. Relationships that are created with a strong Saturn influence tend to last the longest.

However, if Saturn makes an unfriendly aspect to your 7th house or to your partner's personal planets, the relationship is put to the test. There may be delays, emotional separation, or a sense of stagnation. Saturn doesn't destroy what is meant to last. It is just taking off that which was never put on solid ground. Imagine that Saturn is a bridge as a stress test. If the bridge is strong, it remains and gets stronger. When built on shaky ground, Saturn shows that. 

The Moon: Your Emotional Inner World

The Moon changes signs every 2 to 2 and a half days; it is the fastest-moving body in the universe. It has a huge impact on your emotional lives on a day-to-day basis. Have you ever had days when you feel unusually sensitive, clingy, or distant for no apparent reason? When that's the case, it's an activity of the Moon.

Important planets transiting through the 7th house tend to bring significant events in relationships. When Jupiter transits through the 7th house, it may be a big relationship or a bettering of an already strong relationship. Depending on your situation, your Saturn transit through the 7th house could be a relationship test or a deep commitment. The New Moon in your 7th house can be a great time for setting intentions for love, even if you don't have a Full Moon conjunction.

One of the most misinterpreted phenomena in astrology is retrogrades. When people hear "Mercury retrograde," they tend to panic; but there's a reason behind each retrograde.

Communication gets screwed up when Mercury is retrograde. This is when things are misunderstood in text, when things are misunderstood in conversation, and when you say something that clearly wasn't what you meant. This is a time to be patient with one another in the relationship, not putting the worst interpretation on it.

Venus retrograde brings into question the nature of relationships. Are you living a life that brings you joy, happiness, and satisfaction? Are you giving it to others, and are you getting it from them? This is a very introspective period, and if it's taken to the right kind of use, it's very useful.

Mars retrograde leaves you feeling frustrated and dispirited. Not a good time to begin a new relationship or to force major decisions in the relationship. Let it pass.

The most important thing to know about retrogrades is that these are not punishments. They are cosmic pauses to look at you and think before going any further.

This is the one thing that most people are overlooking. No, compatibility is not a constant. So, when considering compatibility for two individuals, you're not only considering their birth charts. You are also viewing a combination of the two charts at one time, based on the current planetary activity.

Two people that look like they don't get along on paper may be perfectly charted in a Jupiter and Venus transit. And two people who are seemingly a natural fit can experience a Saturn or Mars transit that challenges the relationship in a seemingly impossible way.

That's why at one time in their lives they can feel a profound love and connection to each other, and at another time they can feel completely disconnected, despite the fact that nothing happened. Ashtakoot matching, which takes into consideration eight matching points, is completely based on the Nakshatra of the groom and girl. It is done by millions of families in India even today prior to marriage. 

These can be observed by anyone without needing to be an astrologer. If you and your partner have more arguments than normal and there is no obvious cause for that, then see if Mars is in a challenging transit. When you feel emotionally distant and unusually sensitive, the Moon's transit could be impacting you. If you suddenly find yourself thinking about an old relationship or it reappears in your life, Venus retrograde may be involved. If you feel overwhelmed and limited and need to try really hard in every aspect of your life, Saturn could be transiting an area that's sensitive for you.

These are no accidents. They are patterns, and patterns are learnable and manipulable.
